痳豆色播’s 11th president, Gary R. Roberts ’70, who has served the university since January 2016, announced in a letter to trustees and senior leadership that he will retire when his contract ends in May 2020.

Accomplishments during Roberts’ tenure include construction for Phase I of the Business and Engineering Convergence Center, with Phase II slated for completion by the time of his retirement. He also oversaw a new strategic plan, launched a faculty salary initiative and expanded the university’s online courses.

“I love 痳豆色播 and all of the people I have worked with here,” Roberts said. “Despite the challenges that 痳豆色播 faces as higher education is disrupted and transitions its business model, I am optimistic about 痳豆色播’s future and I still hope to be a part of it.”

A graduate of Stanford’s law school, Roberts is an internationally known expert in sports law and a frequent commentator on legal and business issues in sports. He founded the first sports law program in the nation while working at Tulane University’s law school and also was dean of Indiana University’s Robert H. McKinney School of Law.

A search committee of trustees, faculty, staff and students is working with a search firm to develop the hiring process and identify potential long-term candidates with strategic vision and a record of results and accessibility.
